How to use Task Comments on the Mobile App?

Task comments let you collaborate directly with colleagues, ask questions, and track updates within a task. Comments are only visible to team members assigned to the task.


Required Plan, License, and Permissions

  • License: Workflow license required

  • User assignment: You must be assigned to the client connected to the task

  • Permissions:

    • Admin permissions, or

    • Staff permissions with Tasks and Comments enabled


Why it matters

Task comments keep all communication tied to the task itself. This helps firms reduce email back-and-forth, keep records in one place, and ensure only relevant team members see the discussion.

Open a task and access comments

  1. Log in to the Canopy mobile app.

  2. Navigate to an existing task or create a new one.

  3. Tap the comments icon in the upper right corner.


Add a comment

  1. Tap into the comment field.

  2. Type @ to mention a team member.

  3. (Optional) Mark the comment as Urgent if it requires immediate attention.

  4. Enter your comment.

  5. Tap the Send icon to post.


Manage and Edit Comments

  1. Press and hold a comment to open the menu.

  2. Select one of the following options:

    • Like/Unlike a comment

    • Marks as Completed/Remove Completed

    • Mark as Unread

    • Edit Comment


View Comment Participants

  1. Tap the three-dot icon in the upper right corner to view participants in the comment thread.

  2. Swipe down to close the comments panel when finished.
