In our new structure, we have created a client-facing name. This is the name that will show on all client-facing documents like their invoices and in the client portal. This is helpful as it allows you to name your client in Canopy in the format that works best for your firm, especially in how you organize your client list. And at the same time keep a traditional naming structure on all your client’s documents.
For example: You may name all your clients by their last name and then first name but would like their name to appear as first name last name on the client-facing materials.
Individual Clients
Choose the settings that works best for your firm.
Set my client-facing names to be {Last Name}, {First Name}
Set my client-facing names to be {First Name} {Last Name}
Default to display name if it exists, otherwise use {First Name} {Last Name}
The client-facing name is also a great way to add a spouse's name to an invoice.
If you currently have your display names set up to include the spouses you have the option to default your client-facing name to the current display name.
Default to display name if it exists, otherwise use {Last Name}, {First Name}
Business Clients
Just like with individual clients, you can select the setting to use the display name you use in Canopy as the client-facing name. Or you can always select to use the company name.
Default my client name to display the name if it exists, otherwise, use the company name
Only use the company name
