Purpose


To track the total number of hours worked but not yet billed to clients. This KPI helps the firm monitor work-in-progress (WIP) exposure, identify potential bottlenecks in billing, and ensure timely conversion of logged hours into revenue.

Need-to-know Glossary of Terms

  • Time Entry Billed Date - Date time entry was added/linked to an invoice.

  • Time Entry Hours - Length of time entry.

  • Time Entry is Billable - True if billable, false if not.

  • Client is Active - True if active, false if not.


Report Structure Overview

  • Time Entry Billed Date filter - Filtered to only include time entries that have not yet been billed

  • Time Entry is Billable filter - Filtered for time entries that are billable only

  • Client is Active filter - Filtered to include active clients only

Primary Use Case Scenario

Managers use this KPI monthly to see how many hours remain unbilled in the firm and provide visibility into whether team members are properly submitting time entries for billing.


Actionable Insights

Helps estimate near-term revenue once unbilled hours are converted into invoices and encourages timely review and billing of hours, reducing delays between work performed and revenue realized.
