Best Practice: If you are viewing the filtered list that you want to export, you can simply select the icon on the left to Export current list. You can export your Canopy clients to a .CSV file for use elsewhere.
The quick export icon, located on the left of the Client List interface, offers a rapid export option but lacks field customization. For more tailored exports, use the Options menu where you can select specific columns and configurations.
Export Client Lists From Canopy
1. Navigate to the Client List in Canopy and click on the Options menu.
Troubleshooting Tip: If certain columns, like the Client Name, are missing in your export file, browser interference might be to blame. Try exporting using an Incognito/Private browser window. If this resolves the issue, clearing your browser cache and cookies can prevent future disruptions. To clear cache and cookies in Chrome: Open Chrome and click the three dots in the top right corner, select 'Delete Browsing Data,' choose a time range (select 'All time' to clear everything), check 'Cookies and other site data' and 'Cached images and files,' then click 'Clear data' and restart your browser.
2. Choose Export filtered list from the dropdown menu.
If the export option is not appearing, it could be a permissions issue. Check if your role has the "Export client & contacts" permission enabled. Consult your account administrator to enable this permission for your user role. Once updated, the export options will become visible.
3. Select a list to export from the dropdown menu.
Missing options might also arise if navigation to the export control is misunderstood. Ensure you are not using the quick export icon on the left side of the Client List, as it auto-downloads files without additional options. Instead, navigate to the Client List, click the Options menu (usually at the top right), select the three dots at the top right, and choose the export option. In the popup window, check the box for "Export all visible and hidden columns" and click Export to download the file with all relevant details.
4. Click on the Export all visible and hidden columns box if needed.
5. Click Export.
Your clients will be downloaded to a .CSV file named CanopyClientsExport.csv. Common troubleshooting steps include checking exported data for completeness and using the 'Export all visible and hidden columns' option if data appears missing.Export limitations may arise if configured fields in your Client List or Contact List are incomplete. Reviewing and updating these before exporting can ensure all required data is included.Additional field types such as email or mailing addresses can be included to meet specific needs. You can also use the Contact List export for distinct formatting like separating first and last names. Always ensure you are using the latest version of your browser for optimal performance. If issues persist, contact Canopy support for further assistance.
