Canopy Dynamic Links Troubleshooting
Updated over a week ago

What Are Dynamic Links

Dynamic links (also known as deep links) are special URLs that direct you or your clients straight to the relevant page or action—whether on a website or within our app. This creates a smooth experience by removing extra steps like navigating through multiple screens.

Why the Change?

Previously, we used a third-party service provided by Google called Firebase Dynamic Links which used links hosted at canopy.page.link and clientportal.page.link.

However, Google has deprecated this product. To ensure you continue receiving the same streamlined experience, we now manage these links within our own system.

This means our email links now use our new domains:

  • app.cnpy.link

  • cp.cnpy.link

What Does This Mean for You?

In most cases, you won’t notice any difference in how you access Canopy’s features via email links. However, a small number of users—especially those with advanced email security or spam filters from solutions such as Mimecast, Barracuda, Microsoft 365 Defender, Proofpoint, or Cisco IronPort—have reported emails containing these new links being incorrectly flagged as spam.

What Should You Do if Messages Are Flagged?

If your email security system marks our messages as spam or quarantines them, please contact your IT administrator or email provider.

They have two primary ways to ensure our messages are delivered:

1. Allowing the Sender

  • This approach is sometimes called “Safe Senders,” “Approved Senders,” or “Trusted Senders.” Administrators can add the From Address [email protected] to an existing list that bypasses spam checks. However, because this may reduce additional security checks on these emails, some organizations prefer a more targeted approach of allowing only our link domains.

2. Allowlisting/Excluding Our Domains for Link Scanning

  • Many advanced security solutions (e.g., Barracuda, Mimecast, Microsoft 365 Defender, Proofpoint, Cisco IronPort) offer separate or additional policies specifically for URL protection, link rewriting, or domain filtering.

  • For instance, Barracuda uses Intent Domain Policies (where you can set an “Ignore” policy for certain domains), and Mimecast has URL Protection Definitions (where you can add domain exceptions). In other solutions, you might see these described as “Safe Links,” “URL Defense,” or “URL Whitelists.”

Under these policies, the IT administrator can configure rules so that any links from our new domains are treated as exceptions or considered “safe” while still allowing all other email content to receive beneficial scrutiny.

The new domains are:

  • app.cnpy.link

  • cp.cnpy.link

Helping Your Clients

If you also use our Client Portal, notifications to your clients will come from:

  • notifications@YOUR_CUSTOM_SUBDOMAIN.clientportal.com

Your clients’ email systems should also allowlist this address and the link domains mentioned above. If your clients report missing emails or find them in spam, please direct them to their own IT administrator for assistance.
