Bulk Actions in the Tasks List
Bulk actions let you update multiple tasks at once directly from the Tasks List. You can edit status, priority, dates, assignees, roles, and more without opening each task individually.
Required: Available on all Canopy plans.
Why it matters: Reassigning work, closing out completed tasks, or adjusting dates across your team takes seconds instead of minutes — useful when workloads shift mid-season.
Table of Contents
Select Tasks for Bulk Actions
Navigate to Work > Task List.
Check the box to the left of each task you want to update.
To select all visible tasks, check the box in the column header row.
The bulk action icons appear in the upper-right corner once at least one task is selected.
You can also right-click any task to access the same actions for that individual task — or right-click after selecting multiple tasks to act on the selection.
Bulk Action Types
Once tasks are selected, action icons appear in the upper-right corner of the Tasks List:
Edit Status
Edit Priority
Edit Dates
Edit Assignees
Edit Roles
Click More Actions (⋯) to access:
End Task Recurrences
Archive
Edit Task
Copy Task
Edit Task Tags
Each action is covered in detail in the sections below.
Edit Status
Bulk status changes are only available for compatible task type combinations.
Select the tasks you want to update.
Click Edit Status in the upper-right corner.
Select the new status and confirm.
Compatible task type combinations for bulk status edits:
Task, Task w/ Subtasks, and eSign Request
Task w/ Subtasks and Notice
Client Request and Questionnaire
eSign Request and Notice
If you select an incompatible combination, Edit Status will be disabled. Try selecting only one task type or a compatible group.
Edit Priority
All task types support bulk priority edits.
Select the tasks you want to update.
Click Edit Priority in the upper-right corner.
Choose High, Medium, Low, or No Priority and confirm.
Edit Dates
All task types support bulk date edits.
Select the tasks you want to update.
Click the Edit Dates bulk action icon in the upper-right corner.
Choose Due Date, Start Date or a custom date from the Date Type dropdown.
Click Select a New Date and pick a date from the calendar.
Click Add date to confirm your selection.
Click Update to apply the changes.
To review which tasks you're updating, click the number next to Editing Dates for: X tasks.
📝 Note: Changing the date on a recurring task updates all future instances. For example, updating a yearly recurring task to October 15th sets all future recurrences to that date.
Edit Assignees and Roles
All task types support bulk assignee and role edits.
Select the tasks you want to update.
Click Edit Assignees or Edit Roles in the upper-right corner.
Select the team member or role and confirm.
End Task Recurrences
Use this to stop one or more recurring tasks from generating future instances.
Select the recurring tasks you want to stop.
Click More Actions (⋯) > End Task Recurrences.
📝 Note: This action only works on the primary recurring task — the most recently generated task in the recurrence cycle.
Archive Tasks
Archived tasks are stored indefinitely and won't be deleted automatically. You can restore or permanently delete them at any time from the Options menu in the Tasks List.
Select the tasks you want to archive.
Click More Actions (⋯) > Archive.
A temporary notification appears at the bottom of the screen. Click Undo to reverse the action.
To restore or delete archived tasks, see How do I use the Tasks List?
Edit Task Tags
Skip this section if you don't use task tags to segment work.
Select the tasks you want to update.
Click More Actions (⋯) > Edit Task Tags.
Add or remove tags as needed and confirm.
For full details on how task tags work, see How do I use Task Tags & Client Tags?
