Purpose

To track the dollar value of services performed but not yet invoiced (work in progress). This KPI highlights the financial impact of unbilled time and tasks, helping leadership manage cash flow, billing efficiency, and client engagement.

Need-to-know Glossary of Terms

  • Time Entry Billed Date - Date time entry was added/linked to an invoice.

  • Time Entry Billable Amount - Duration of time entry multiplied by rate.

  • Time Entry is Billable - True if billable, false if not.

  • Client is Active - True if active, false if not.


Report Structure Overview

  • Time Entry Billed Date filter - Filtered to only include time entries that have not yet been billed

  • Time Entry is Billable filter - Filtered for time entries that are billable only

  • Client is Active filter - Filtered to include active clients only

Want to add a notification alert to this KPI?

1. Hover over the top right corner of the KPI and select the bell icon.
2. A modal will appear with options for an alert based on anomaly, threshold, and scheduled.
3. Select your settings and press Create Alert.


Primary Use Case Scenario

A Partner uses this report monthly to measure the total value of pending invoices across clients and support forecasting of near-term revenue, since unbilled work will typically convert into cash in the coming cycle.


Actionable Insights

Highlights inefficiencies in billing if large balances remain unbilled for extended periods. A consistently growing unbilled revenue KPI may indicate under-billing, poor time entry review, or client approval delays.
