Monthly WIP Hours & WIP Revenue by Team Member (last year)

Purpose

To measure how much WIP time and revenue from last year is still currently tied to each team member. This helps partners and managers understand what work has been logged but not yet billed, giving visibility into both workload and pending revenue that might be critically overdue.

Need-to-know Glossary of Terms

  • Time Entry Hours - Length of time entry.

  • Time Entry Start Date - Starting timestamp of time entry duration.

  • Billable Time Entry Hours - Time entries that are billable.

  • Service Item Name - Refers to the designation used to identify the specific service billed to the client.

  • Time Entry User Name - The name of the team member who logged time.

  • Client Name - Customer name, if a display name exists, that will be the primary search term. If there is no display name, first and last name will be displayed.

  • Time Entry Billed Date - Date a time entry was added/linked to an invoice.

  • Time Entry Billable Amount - Duration of time entry multiplied by the rate.


Report Structure Overview

  • Time Entry Start Date filter - Filtered to show time entries with start dates last year

  • Time Entry Billed Date filter - Filtered to exclude time entries with a billed date

  • Rows - Filtered for Time Entry User Name

  • Expanded Row Level 2 - Client Name

  • Expanded Row Level 3 - Service Item Name

  • Column - Time Entry Start Date monthly

  • Values - WIP hours

  • Values - WIP revenue

  • Grand Totals - Totals for each row


Suggested Modifications

Want to update the date range filter from the previous year to something else?

  • Click on the Time Entry Start Date filter bubble at the top of the report.

  • There are two options for a filter; rolling date or fixed date range.

  • Select Apply.


Primary Use Case Scenario

A Partner reviews this report track how many WIP hours each staff member has accumulated this year compared to the last.


Actionable Insights

Ability for Managers to intervene if they see WIP hours from last year that have not yet been invoiced avoiding the risk of non-payment and engagement from customers.
