Table of Contents

Canopy Mobile App: File Permissions Support

The Canopy Mobile app now supports client portal file permissions, allowing firms to show or hide files by contact and share entire folders and their contents. This ensures mobile access aligns with the new, more granular file-sharing controls available on the web.

Recurring Tasks Scheduler (Experimental)

A new recurring task scheduler introduces advanced recurrence options like last day of the month, avoiding weekends, fiscal-year-aware quarterly schedules, and end dates. Tasks are now created from templates with up-to-date data, improving accuracy and flexibility for ongoing work.

Canopy Community with Single Sign-On (SSO)

The Canopy Community is now live and accessible via single sign-on using Canopy credentials. Customers can seamlessly move between Canopy and the Community without managing a separate login.

Bulk Client Tag Management via CSV

Firms can now bulk update client tags using a CSV upload, significantly reducing manual effort when managing large client groups. This feature is currently rolling out through Implementation and will expand to customers in a future phase.

Bulk Update Client Types

Client types (Individual or Business) can now be updated in bulk, eliminating the need to rerun migrations or recreate clients. This reduces onboarding friction and corrects common setup issues more efficiently.

Saved Filters with Relative Dates

Saved filters now retain relative date logic (e.g., Today, Last 7 Days), automatically updating results without manual adjustments. This enhancement applies to Time and Billing views and includes a fix for the YTD WIP report filter.

Client Portal File Sharing Enhancements

Firms now have greater control over client portal file access with contact-level permissions and folder-level visibility settings. These updates replace the previous all-or-nothing sharing model and make it easier to manage access at scale.

In-App Capacity Planner (Experimental)

A new board-style capacity planner lets firms visualize tasks by assignee and rebalance workloads using drag-and-drop. As work is reassigned, estimated time totals update automatically to support realistic capacity planning.

Insights Two-Week Capacity Planner (Experimental)

A new Insights liveboard provides a firm-wide, two-week view of staff capacity, highlighting utilization, over-capacity risks, and reassignment opportunities. This is an early step toward more advanced resource planning in Canopy.

Bulk Mark Invoices as Paid

Firms can now mark multiple invoices as paid at once for cash, check, or other offline payment methods. This streamlines payment tracking while maintaining accurate records outside of Canopy Payments.

Client Portal eSign Experience Improvements (Mobile)

The mobile eSign experience now includes clearer field labels, improved placement, and support for upcoming required fields and checkboxes. These updates make it faster and easier for clients to complete eSign requests on their phones.

Questionnaires & Document Checklists Now Generally Available

Questionnaires and Document Checklists are now fully available to all Canopy users, supporting custom templates, bulk sending, embedded file uploads, and exports. AI-powered intake features remain available separately through Experimental Features.

Tax Organizer 2025

Updated individual and business tax organizers for 2025 are now available, reflecting recent tax legislation changes. This marks the final year of the legacy tax organizer as firms transition toward questionnaire-based workflows.

Questionnaires and Document Checklists Linked to Tasks

Questionnaires and document requests can now be created directly from and attached to existing tasks. This allows teams to manage client work from a single workflow without switching tools.

Android Client Portal eSign Infrastructure Update

The Android Client Portal app now uses a modern PDF viewer to improve eSign accuracy, performance, and reliability. This update also supports upcoming eSign enhancements like required fields and checkboxes.
