The Canopy mobile app lets you send, receive, and manage client messages directly from your phone — including file uploads, client request links, and message-level actions like reminders and read status.
Required: Must be migrated onto the new client and contact structure (CRM2).
Why it matters: Respond to clients and manage message threads without being at your desk — useful during site visits, meetings, or tax season when every minute counts.

Open a Client Message Thread
Log in to the Canopy app.
Tap the Inbox button.
Tap the Client Messages tab.
Tap the thread you want to open.
Each thread displays the client name, time of the last message, and a preview of the most recent message.
Start a New Message Thread
Tap the Inbox button, then tap the Client Messages tab.
Tap the blue + icon in the bottom right corner.
Scroll the client list or use the search bar to find the client.
Tap the client's name.
Tap the message field to begin composing your message.
Continue to the Send a Message section to send and attach content.
Send a Message
Tap the message field at the bottom of a new or existing message thread.
Type your message.
To flag the message as time-sensitive, tap Mark as Urgent before sending.
To attach content, tap the + icon before sending and choose an option:
Scan with Camera — photograph a document to upload as an image.
Add from Photos — select an image from your photo library.
Upload from Files — upload a file from your device storage.
Link a Client Request — attach a client request to the thread. Tap any linked request in the thread to open it directly.
Tap the Send icon.
Interact with Messages in a Thread
Tap any message in the thread to access these actions:
Like — add a thumbs up reaction.
Mark Complete / Remove Completed — track whether a message has been acted on.
Mark Read / Unread — control read status for follow-up.
Set Reminder — schedule a reminder tied to that message.
How status indicators appear in the thread:
✓ Checkmark — message has been read.
👍 Thumbs up — message has been liked.
🔔 Bell with time — a reminder is set on that message.
Blue line labeled "New" — marks the start of unread messages in the thread.
📝 Note: When you scroll up through older messages, an arrow appears in the lower right corner. Tap it to jump back to the most recent message.
Manage Thread Settings
Tap the three-dot icon in the upper right corner of the thread to access:
View Client — navigate directly to the client's record.
Turn Off Thread Notifications — mute notifications for this thread.
Participants — view the team members and contacts included in this message thread.
