How Do I Access and Manage Standard Reports?

Standard Reports are a set of pre-built reports available under the Intelligence tab, giving you instant visibility into firm data like client profitability, billed hours, and service revenue.

Available to everyone on every Canopy plan. Customizing a report (Make a Copy, Pin to a Liveboard) requires an Insights license.

⚠️ Beta: Standard Reports are currently in Open Beta. They must be turned on from Experimental Features before they appear in your account.

Standard Reports give you instant visibility into firm performance — client profitability, billed hours, service item revenue, and more — without needing to build a report from scratch.

Table of Contents

Access Standard Reports

  1. Click the Intelligence tab in the global navigation bar.

  2. Click Reports from the menu.

  3. Select a report to review its data.

Filter Reports by Date

  1. Click the date field in the upper right corner of the report.

  2. Choose Rolling or Fixed:

    • Rolling — Select a relative preset from the dropdown (for example, Yesterday).

    • Fixed — Select a comparison type (for example, Between), then enter the start and end dates.

  3. Review the preview at the bottom of the dialog to confirm the date range before applying.

  4. Click Apply.

Making a copy lets you customize the measures, attributes, dates, and formulas — the original standard report stays unchanged.

  1. Click the 3-dot icon in the upper right of the report.

  2. Select Make a Copy.

  3. Open the new copy — it appears in your reports list titled "Copy of [original report name]."

  4. Open the copy's settings to customize measures, attributes, dates, and formulas as needed.

    • Customizing a copy requires an Insights license.

  5. Save the copy by selecting:

Explore a Report

Use Explore to test adjustments like filters, added columns, or comparisons. The standard report itself doesn't change — to keep your adjustments, make a copy, download, or pin the result.

  1. Click the 3-dot icon in the upper right of the report.

  2. Select Explore.

  3. Choose a tab to adjust the report:

    • Filter — Add a filter by column name, or choose a suggested preset (for example, this quarter).

    • Add — Add a new attribute or measure column (for example, Client Name or Line Item Billable Amount) using search or the suggested list.

    • Replace — Select an existing column and swap it for a different value level (for example, swap monthly for daily, weekly, quarterly, or yearly).

    • Compare — Add a custom value to compare against the report data.

  4. Click Close when finished.

    • To save your adjustments, make a copy, download the report, or pin it to a Liveboard in Insights — the original standard report stays unchanged.

View Underlying Data

Aggregated totals aren't available when viewing underlying data — this view shows individual records instead.

  1. Click the 3-dot icon in the upper right of the report.

  2. Select Show Underlying Data.

  3. Click Edit Columns to choose which fields display.

    • Use the search field to find a column by name, or toggle Show only selected to review your current choices.

  4. Click Done to apply your column changes.

  5. Click Download CSV to export the full data set, or click Done to close the view.

Other Report Options

From the 3-dot icon menu, you can also:

  • Pin — Add the report to a Liveboard in Insights. Requires an Insights license.

  • Download — Export the report as a PNG, XLSX, or CSV file.

  • Copy Link — Copy a shareable link to the report.
