Archive and Delete Contacts
Updated over a week ago

Heads Up! If you see features in this article that aren’t in your account, this article may be what you're looking for instead.

Archive Contacts

1. Select Clients from the global navigation bar.

2. Choose Contact List on the secondary navigation menu.

3. Select each contact you want to archive by clicking the in-line checkbox.

Note: If the Archive option is greyed out, this is because a contact is assigned as the primary contact on x client record(s). A primary contact cannot be archived.

As a workaround, set a different contact as a primary to the record, and then you can archive them as normal.

4. Click on the Archive icon in the top right.

A message populates before contacts are archived.

5. Review the information and select Continue to archive.

Delete Contacts

1. Navigate to the Contact List in Canopy and click on the Options menu on the top right.

2. Select Archived contacts from the pop-out menu.

3. Right-click and select Delete contact on each contact you want permanently deleted from Canopy.

  • You can also use the provided search box in the top right to search for a specific contact.

  • Deleting a Contact is permanent. Once you delete a contact from Canopy, it cannot be restored. Please be certain that you want to delete the contact.

Unarchive Contacts: If you want to make contacts active again instead of keeping them Archived or deleting them, you can unarchive them individually or in bulk.

4. Click the back arrow to return to the active Contact List.

Remove Contacts from Client Records

1. Navigate to a client record.

2. Click the pencil icon on the Client Info section.

3. Scroll to the Contacts area of the Edit Client window.

4. Select the X next to any non-primary contacts listed for the client.

Primary Contact Removal: You cannot remove a primary contact from a client record. If you want to do this, first you must:

  1. Add another new or existing contact to the record

  2. Assign them as the new primary on the record

  3. Now you can remove the previously assigned primary contact without issue!

5. Save the client to close the window.

Changes are immediately reflected in the Client Record!
