Engagements Permissions


View Engagements

Controls whether users can view engagements in Canopy.

What this permission allows

  • View engagements in the Engagements list

  • Open and review individual engagement records

Important considerations

  • This permission applies to users with an Engagements license

Other permissions affected

  • Turning this permission off automatically disables:

    • All other Engagement permissions

    • Engagement Templates

    • Engagement Item Templates

When this permission is turned off

  • The Engagements option is removed from navigation

  • Users cannot access the Engagements list or engagement records


Create, Edit, and Assign Engagements

Controls whether users can create, edit, duplicate, and assign engagements.

What this permission allows

  • Create new engagements

  • Edit engagements the user created

  • Duplicate engagements

  • Assign engagements to team members

Important considerations

  • This permission applies to users with an Engagements license

Other permissions affected

  • Turning this permission off automatically disables:

    • Send Engagements

    • Archive Engagements

    • Delete Engagements

When this permission is turned off

  • Users can still:

    • View the Engagements list

    • Open individual engagements

    • Access engagement settings

    • View templates

  • Users cannot create, edit, duplicate, or assign engagements



Send Engagements

Controls whether users can send engagements to clients.

What this permission allows

  • Send engagements to clients for review and acceptance

Important considerations

  • This permission applies to users with an Engagements license

When this permission is turned off

  • The Create Engagement button remains visible

  • Engagement fields are read-only and cannot be filled out

  • Users cannot send engagements to clients



Archive Engagements

Controls whether users can archive closed engagements.

What this permission allows

  • Archive engagements with a Closed status

Important considerations

  • This permission applies to users with an Engagements license

Other permissions affected

  • Turning this permission off automatically disables:

    • Delete Engagements

When this permission is turned off

  • The Archive option is not available on closed engagements

  • Users cannot view archived engagements



Delete Engagements

Controls whether users can permanently delete archived engagements.

What this permission allows

  • Delete engagements that have been archived

Important considerations

  • This permission applies to users with an Engagements license

When this permission is turned off

  • Users can still view archived engagements

  • Users cannot delete archived engagements



Accept Engagements

Controls whether users can accept engagements on a client’s behalf.

What this permission allows

  • Accept engagements for clients

  • Move engagements out of the Awaiting Acceptance status

Important considerations

  • This permission applies to users with an Engagements license

When this permission is turned off

  • The Accept button is removed:

    • When creating an engagement

    • When viewing an engagement awaiting acceptance



Notes for Admins

  • View Engagements acts as the parent permission — disabling it removes access to all Engagement features.

  • Most Engagement actions are cascading, meaning turning off higher-level permissions automatically disables related actions.
