Client, Contacts, Notes, Service Items, Invoices, Payments, Credits, and Custom Fields.
Not included:
Work-in-Progress (time entries), Roles, Projects/Tasks, Client Groups, and Custom Tags.
WIP, Roles, and Custom Tags can be imported separately using the Client Import Workbook.
Access requirements
Complete these steps before your scoping call with your migration specialist.
Invite [email protected] to your Canopy account as an Admin.
Confirm you have full access to Practice CS and can generate a .bak or .bdf backup file.

Pull an Accounts Receivable Recap Report from your first day using Practice CS through the exact date the backup is created.
Your migration specialist will need this report to reconcile your AR data.
Questions to review before your scoping call
Review these before meeting with your migration specialist. Having answers ready will keep your scoping call on track.
Individual and business clients
Do you currently use SSN/EIN in Practice CS? If not, do you use Entity Type?
If your client data is incomplete or inconsistent, clean it up in Practice CS before the migration.
Taxpayer and spouse records
Do all taxpayer and spouse records include both a first and last name?
If not, add missing names in Practice CS before the migration.
Billing settings
Are your billing settings configured in Canopy the way you want them?
Your migration specialist can walk you through billing setup if needed.
Principal and subsidiary clients
Do you use Principal and Subsidiary relationships for billing in Practice CS?
