Practice CS Field | Canopy Field | Notes |
ID | External ID | Provides a reference back to the original Practice CS client record. |
EIN/SSN | EIN/SSN | Primary method for distinguishing Business vs. Individual clients. |
Entity Type | Business/Individual | Secondary method for distinguishing Business vs. Individual clients. |
Description | Client Display Name | May differ from the Client Name field. |
Name 1 | Business Name | Business clients only. |
Client Class | Client Status | Maps to Client, Prospect, or Other. |
Client Status | Active/Inactive Status | Archived clients will not be imported. |
Interaction Notes | Client Notes | Only notes stored directly in Practice CS are imported — not notes from FileCabinet, UltraTax, or other integrated tools. |
Groupings (Partner/Manager/Associate) | Custom Fields | These do not map to Client Owner in Canopy, but can be used to filter and manually assign Client Owner after migration. |
Groupings (Entity) | (not imported) | Entity does not carry over as a Custom Field. |
