How do Canopy Coworker credits work?

Each Canopy Coworker user gets a monthly allocation of credits. This article covers what uses them, what you see as you get close to your limit, and what to do when you reach it.

Required: Available on the Standard, Plus and Premium plans, to anyone with the Coworker permission. Admins check team usage with the Coworker Admin permission.

šŸ‘‰ Beta: Coworker is in open beta. Turn it on in Settings > Experimental Features > Canopy Coworker.

Why it matters: Knowing where you stand keeps Coworker from pausing in the middle of busy season, when you need it most.

How Credits Work

  • Each Coworker request uses credits, including automated job runs and recommendations. Confirm automated job runs count against the user who created the job.

  • Your allocation is per person, so a teammate's use doesn't affect yours.

  • It resets at the start of each month.

  • Coworker Onboarding doesn't use credits.

When You're Close to Your Limit

As you get close to your monthly limit, a Coworker Beta Credit Usage banner above the task box says you're close to this month's usage limit and when it resets. Click the X to dismiss it.

šŸ‘‰ Best practice: When the banner appears, save your remaining credits for client work. Narrow large requests, such as one month of data instead of a year, and pause automated jobs you don't need this month.

When You Reach Your Limit

Coworker pauses for you until your allocation resets at the start of next month. The Coworker page shows that you've reached your limit.

To claim the tax-season credit gift:

  1. On the Coworker page, find the banner that says you've reached your limit.

  2. Click Claim credits.

    • The gift is a one-time 190,000 credits for your own use. It's available only during the tax-season promotion.

  3. Continue your session.

If you've already claimed the gift, contact Canopy Support about more credits.

Check Your Team's Usage

Skip this section if you aren't a Coworker admin.

  1. Click your Profile icon, then select Settings.

  2. Go to Coworker Settings and click the Credit Usage tab.

  3. Review each team member's use of their monthly limit and who has reached it. When someone passes 80% of theirs, an Approaching monthly limit banner appears at the top.

Troubleshooting

Coworker stopped and says I've reached my limit:

  • Claim the tax-season gift from the banner if it's offered, or wait for the reset at the start of the month.

I don't see the option to claim the gift:

  • The gift can be claimed once, and only during the promotion. Contact Canopy Support about more credits.

Summary

Each Coworker user gets a monthly credit allocation, and a banner warns you before Coworker pauses at the limit. During the tax-season promotion you can claim a one-time 5,000-credit gift from that banner, and admins can track everyone's use on the Credit Usage tab.
