How Do I Create New Filter Views on the Tasks List?

Updated over a week ago

Filter views help you quickly navigate and organize the Tasks List, making it easier to focus on the work that matters and streamline your workflow.

Why it Matters

Custom filter views allow firms to create task panels tailored to their processes—improving visibility, efficiency, and task management during busy periods.

Table of Contents

Create a New Filter View

Creating a new filter view is most efficient when you start from an existing one and save your changes as a new view.

Best Practice Tip: If you need to adjust which columns appear in your new filter view, first save the new view, then follow the Change Visible Columns steps in the Filter the Tasks List article.

To Create a new Filter View

  1. Go to the Tasks List and select an existing Filter View from the Tasks Navigation bar.

  2. Click a column header to apply a filter.

    • For help applying filters, refer to the Filter the Tasks List article.

  3. After setting your filters, click Save filter at the top of the page.

  4. Select Save as new filter view, then name and save the new view.

Canopy Tip: If you have many saved filter views, the navigation bar is both scrollable and searchable for easier access.

Create a Copy of an Existing Filter View

Copying a filter view lets you carry over existing settings while making updates—without changing the original view.

Best Practice Tip: When working in the Customize Task List modal, copying an existing filter view is the recommended way to build a new view.

Steps to Creating a Copy of an Existing Filter View

  1. Click Tasks List from the slide-in menu.

  2. Select the Options menu (top-right).

  3. Choose Customize task list.

  4. In the left-side column, select Reorder filter views.

  5. Click the Options menu next to the filter view you want to copy.

  6. Select Copy.

  7. Locate the copied filter view and open its Options menu.

  8. Select Rename.

  9. Enter the new filter view name.

  10. Click Save.

  11. Select Save and close.

Your newly copied filter view will now appear as a tab at the top of the Tasks List.
