How Do I Create Bulk Invoices in Canopy?
Bulk invoicing lets you create and send the same invoice to multiple clients at once—ideal for recurring or fixed-rate services like monthly bookkeeping.

Create Bulk Invoices From the Client List
The Client List is the most common place to start bulk invoicing.
To Open the Bulk Invoice Builder
Click Clients.
Select Client List.
Select multiple clients.
In the bulk actions menu at the top, click the Invoice icon (document with a dollar sign).
The Bulk Invoice Builder opens.
Build and Send Bulk Invoices
Select Clients
All selected clients populate automatically.
Remove a client by clicking the X.
Add additional clients by typing their name into the field.
Complete Invoice Details
Enter an Invoice Description (for example, Monthly Bookkeeping).
Adjust the Invoice Date and Payment Terms if needed.
Add Service Items:
Use the dropdown to select a service.
Adjust line item details as needed.
Add additional line items until the invoice is complete.
Preview and Send
Click Preview to review each individual invoice.
Click Send Bulk Invoice.
You’ll see a confirmation message:
Bulk invoice has begun processing. An email and notification will appear when it is finished. You can view status in the activity log. Invoices are queued and sent individually to each client.
Other Ways to Create Bulk Invoices
You can also start bulk invoices from other areas in Canopy.
From the Global “+” Button
Click the Global “+” button.
Select Invoice.
Choose Bulk Invoice.
Select clients using the checkboxes.
From the Invoice Dashboard
Go to Billing.
Select Invoices.
Click Create Invoice.
Choose Bulk Invoice.
Manage and Track Bulk Invoices
Invoice Dashboard
The Invoices dashboard is where you manage all invoices.
From here, you can:
View recently sent bulk invoices
Check invoice status
Open individual invoices
Client Portal Considerations
You’ll receive an email once all bulk invoices finish sending.
If a client does not have Client Portal access:
Their invoice is created but not sent
The invoice status shows as Saved
You can:
Invite the client to the Client Portal.
Return to the invoice from:
The Invoice Dashboard, or
The client record
Send the invoice once portal access is active.
The Activity Log provides detailed status information for each client invoice.

You can create bulk invoices from the Client List, Global “+” button, or Invoice Dashboard.
Each invoice is reviewed individually before sending.
Clients without portal access will have invoices saved until access is granted.
