8. Engagements

Updated this week

Time for an engagement!

How do I create an Engagement?

Engagements let you quickly build and send detailed proposals to clients, moving you from agreement to payment with ease. Clients can view terms, rates, and services directly in their portal, making the process transparent and efficient.

โš ๏ธ Heads Up! If you donโ€™t have access to Engagements in your account, your account may be on the Client Management module instead of Client Engagements.

Table of Contents

Create an Engagement

Start a new engagement in one of two ways:

  • From the Global Plus Icon, select Engagement.

  • Or, go to Work > Engagement List > Create Engagement.

Build the Engagement

The Engagement Builder walks you through four tabs: Introduction, Services, Terms, and Signatures.

  • Introduction: Enter engagement name, link a client, add assignees, and (optional) add an introductory message, video, or document.

  • Signers: Add one or more client contacts. You can also add a new signer outside the contact list.

  • Terms: Enter general terms or use a saved letter template. Service terms auto-fill if linked to service items.

  • Signatures: Choose payment settings such as requiring a saved payment method or a deposit.

Use the preview on the left to see how your engagement will appear.

Services

Instead of adding engagement items, youโ€™ll now add Service Items.

  1. Go to the Services tab.

  2. Click Add Service.

  3. Choose one:

    • Existing Service Item: Auto-populates name, rate, rate type, tax %, and description. Then select billing frequency.

    • Custom Service: Manually enter all service details.

  4. Add multiple services if needed.

  5. (Optional) Remove services with the trash icon.

๐Ÿ“Œ Tip: Save time by creating Service Item Templates for recurring services.

Client Acceptance

When you send the engagement, clients receive a secure link via email or through their portal. They can:

  • Review services, rates, and terms.

  • Sign electronically.

  • (If enabled) Enter payment details and make a payment.

๐Ÿ’ก Tip: You can accept on behalf of the client by clicking Sign on behalf. This cancels the e-signature request and activates the engagement immediately.

Engagement List

All engagements are tracked in the Engagement List:

  • Go to Work > Engagement List.

  • Filter to find active, draft, or completed engagements.

  • Manage tasks tied to engagements directly from this list.
